• Viradham 18th Jan - 9am
    The Viradham (Vratham) ceremony marks the groom entering the next stage or ashram of his life, from Brahmacharya (bachelorhood) to Grihasta (householder). The ceremony is separately performed by both the bride and the groom. Mantras are chanted to seek protection of the gods - Indra, Agni, Chandra, and Soma. Kaappu (holy thread) is tied on the bride's wrist to protect her from all evil.

  • Nichayathartham 18th Jan - 10am
    The word Nichayathartham means engagement. Tamil Brahmin Nichayathartham is the event where the bride's and groom's families meet and confirm the auspicious time (suba muhoortham) for the wedding.
  • Vedha Ghosham 18th Jan - 11am
    "Vedham" means knowledge or wisdom, and "Ghosham" means sound or recital. Together it refers to the chanting of the Vedic hymns and mantras, which are ancient sacred texts in Hinduism.
  • Sangeet 18th Jan - 6pm
    An evening filled with dance, music, and a lot of fun! With a sprinkle of glitz and glam, better get ready to jam!

  • Kasi Yathirai 19th Jan - 7am
    Being convinced that family life is not for him, the groom decides to go to Kasi (Varanasi) and become a sanyasi. On the way, he meets the bride's father who convinces him to get married to his daughter instead. The groom then changes his mind and agrees to the marriage. He is welcomed to the wedding hall with grand gestures.

    To ease mind of the bride and groom, traditions like exchanging garlands and swing ceremony are conducted. After all, the groom just met the bride. Right? Right!
  • Maangalya Dhaaranam 19th Jan - 09:00 am
    Finally, as a confirmation of the marriage, the bride is integrated into the groom's family. The groom ties the sacred Thaali (mangal sutra) around the bride's neck with three knots symbolizing the belief, the promise, and the execution of commitment to each other.

  • Gruhapravesam 19th Jan - 02:00pm
    This marks the first time the bride and groom step into each other's homes as a married couple. They are welcomed with love, laughter, and nazar removal procedures.
  • Nalangu 19th Jan - 03:30pm
    Now that the wedding is complete, it is time for the couple to play some fun games. Families and friends take sides to cheer the couple. Get ready for coconut rolling, paapad dodging, and a lot of leg pulling.
  • Reception 19th Jan - 02:00pm
    A reception needs no introduction. I'm sure you know what happens on stage. You'll also get to hear Flautist Lalit Talluri and band playing some amazing music.
